NTERLACHEN TOWN COUNCIL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY, APRIL 11, 2017 - 7:00 P.M. DICKERMAN BUILDING CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Meadows called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. ROLL CALL: Council members present were Chairperson Carolyn Meadows, Vice-Chairperson, John Lahert, Beverly Bakker, and Carolyn Bennett. Judi Costanzo was absent due to illness. Mayor Larsen and Attorney Young were also present. COUNCIL CHAIRPERSON – CAROLYN MEADOWS Mayor Larsen read a proclamation observing May 14-20 as National Law Enforcement Week. Mayor Larsen recognized student of the month; Malik Guthrie from C.H. Price Middle School. Chairperson Meadows welcomed everyone and wished them a happy spring. COUNCIL AGENDAED DISCUSSION: Discussion and Consideration of Setting a Date for the Independence Day Celebration. After much discussion, Council Member Lahert moved to have the Independence Day Celebration on July 4th. Council Member Bakker seconded. Motion passed by a unanimous voice vote of the Council. Discussion and Consideration of the Daisy Velazquez Neighbor Dispute. Ms. Velazquez stated that her neighbor, John Lloyd was harassing her and putting yard debris on the right-of-way in front of her house. Codes Enforcement officer, Garry McClure stated that this been an ongoing dispute for quite some time. Attorney George Young stated that at this time there were no legal grounds for the Town to take any action unless there was a codes or rule violation. The Council decided that procedures for debris disposal and other issues will be discussed at the codes workshop which is to be scheduled at a later date. Discussion and Consideration of Setting a Date for a Personnel Manual and Codes Workshop. Due to the absence of Council Member Costanzo, the Council decided to table this item until the May meeting. Discussion and Consideration of Selling Property to F.D.O.T. Attorney Young stated that he has been informed that D.O.T. is in the final stages of the purchasing process. CONSENT AGENDA: The Consent Agenda was approved by unanimous general consent of the Council. COUNCIL COMMENTS: Council Member Bakker stated that she had attended the LOGIC meeting. Council Member Bennett stated that she will be attending another training meeting this month. Council Member Lahert stated that the volunteer luncheon was well attended and wished everyone a happy Easter. Chairperson Meadows also stated that the volunteer luncheon was great and that she looks forward to the upcoming g workshops. MAYOR COMMENTS: Mayor Larsen wished everyone a happy Easter and stated that prayers go out to Council Member Costanzo for a speedy recovery. DEPARTMENT HEAD COMMENTS: The Maintenance Supervisor gave an update on the current grant projects. CITIZEN COMMENTS: Joan Conner invited everyone to come celebrate the Interlachen Community Center’s first anniversary on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 5-9pm. ATTORNEY COMMENTS: Attorney Young had no comments. ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 7:50p.m.
